Previously eaten only once at New Year’s, yu sheng has now been part of Singaporean CNY dinners throughout the New Year holiday. That’s why, here at NONILO, we’ll help you celebrate even better, simplifying the process of finding the best yu sheng in town, starting with the most affordable.
Best Yu Sheng in Singapore Below S$100
1. Red House Seafood (S$48+ for 6 pax, S$78+ for 10 pax)
One of the oldest seafood restaurants in Singapore, Red House Seafood (also known as Xiao Hong Lou) is famous for its authentic traditional Chinese cuisine.
This festive season, Red House Seafood has come out with the Happiness Yu Sheng, which you can get at S$48+ for a serving size of 6 people, or S$78+ for 10 people.
You can get the Happiness Yu Sheng in-house with their Lunar New Year Banquet Packages, at their East Coast, Clarke Quay or Robertson Quay branches. You can also order it ala-carte for collection from 4th to 19th Feb 2019. Orders should be made at least one day in advance.
2. Pu Tien Restaurant (S$29.80 for small, S$39.80 medium, S$49.80 large) ⠀
Putien is a one Michelin Star restaurant that serves traditional Fujian food at an affordable price point. Enjoy a special bundle price if order their yu sheng with their ‘Pot of Goodies”.
Available for dine-in and takeaway from all 12 Putien outlets in Singapore, from now til 19th Feb 2019, except on 6th Feb. Putien Ion Orchard outlet will be operating as usual throughout the period.
3. Crystal Jade Restaurant (S$88 for small, S$128 for large)
Comprising sliced Hamachi, salmon roe, sea grapes and pork floss rolls, this deliciously untraditional take on yu sheng is perfect for those who want affordable but high-quality yu sheng.
Available for dine-in and takeaway at all Crystal Jade Outlets. Preorder available at leat 3 days in advanced, from now ’til 14 Feb 2019.
Best Yu Sheng in Singapore S$100-S$200
4. Wah Lok @ Carlton Hotel Singapore ($108 for small, $188 for large)
The premium-dining Wah Lok restaurant has come up with two yu sheng dishes this year—the Alaskan Crab Lo Hei or Hamachi Yu Sheng in “Soon Tak” Style.
Wah Lok uses a soya sauce dressing to capture the taste of the traditionally-savoury dish, instead of the sweet plum sauce that is typically used.
Both the Alaskan Crab Lo Hei and Hamachi Yu Sheng are available for dine-in only. Available til 19nd Jan.
5. Min Jiang @ Goodwood Park (S$118 or S$168)
Min Jiang has come out with multiple Lo Hei options this year.
The Prosperity Fa Cai Yu Sheng (S$168) is a traditional yu sheng dish with raw salmon slices, abalones, a medley of vegetables including fried sweet potato strips, and homemade bak kwa. A special dressing of calamansi juice, plum sauce, lemongrass and strawberry jam gives the dish a sweet and tangy flavour.
Min Jiang also serves a fruit yu sheng at S$118 for small.
Min Jiang Restaurant has branches in Goodwood Park Hotel Singapore and at One North. Dine-in only from now to 19 Feb 2019.
6. Jade @ The Fullerton Hotel Singapore (S$78 -S$138)
The Fullerton Hotel’s premium Chinese restaurant has come up with two yu sheng options: The Gold Rush Yu Sheng (S$78 for 5 pax, S$118 for 6-8 pax, S$138 for 9-11 pax) and the Special Piggy Edition Gold Rush Yu Sheng (S$338).
Topped with Norwegian salmon, the Gold Rush Salmon Yu Sheng comes with Honey Pineapple Dressing, Champagne Jelly and Olive Oil. If you really want to go all out, sashimi add-ons of Lobster at (S$58), abalone (S$48*), tuna (S$28) and salmon (S$28) are also available.

7. Summer Palace @ Regent Hotel (S$88-S$138)
Enjoy a balance of the sweet and the savoury with Summer Palace’s Prosperity Pig Yu Sheng.
Choose from eight different options of yu sheng, from the traditional Smoked Salmon (S$88) to more unique combinations like the Bird’s Nest and Pear ($138) and the vegetarian Purple Cauliflower with Lily Bulbs (S$88).
If you’d like to go all out, you can even top up the yu sheng with extra accompaniments like Poached Lobster (S$88) or Salted Egg Yolk Crispy Fish Skin ($28). The yu sheng also comes with eight small white chocolate piglets for start your year with extra sweetness.

8. Racines @ Sofitel Singapore City Centre (S$128, S$138 or S$168)
Take away either the Traditional Homemade Cured Trout Yu Sheng ($128+), Auspicious Yu Sheng With Black Garlic Dressing (138+), or Sofitel’s Luxe Abalone Yu Sheng ($168+) from now til 22 Feb.
All Chinese New Year dine-in specials at Racines – also available til 22 Feb 2019 – come inclusive with either the Cured Trout yu sheng or Luxe Abalone Yu Sheng.
Best Yu Sheng in Singapore – S$200 and above
9. Long Beach Seafood Restaurant (S$228 onwards)
Traditionally, yu sheng doesn’t contain much seafood – apart from the slices of raw salmon or abalone. At Long Beach Seafood Restaurant, the dish comes customisable by adding as much hamachi, turbot, geoduck or even lobster as you want! This makes it one of the best yu sheng in Singapore we’ve found this year.
Another of the big difference between Long Beach’s yu sheng and the regular version is the fruit. The fruit included in the salad vary from day to day, with choices including dragonfruit, kiwifruit, strawberries, mango.
Their standard abalone yu sheng costs S$228++.

10. Si Chuan Dou Hua Restaurant (S$98 for smoked salmon, S$198 for fugu)
With the choice of smoked salmon sashimi or fugu sashimi, the Prosperity Silver Bait & Homemade Bakkwa with Fresh Greens Yusheng from Si Chuan Dou Hua is an upscale take on the traditional dish.
Meanwhile, the Auspicious Yu Sheng with Crispy Pork Floss and Shredded Jade Abalone is a spicy take on yu sheng, with the mala pork floss balanced with fresh vegetables.
Both yu sheng cost S$98 for the salmon version and S$198 with the laughing pig fugu sashimi.
