IKEA Philippines to open at Mall of Asia in 2020

IKEA Philippines, which is said to be almost double the size of a typical IKEA mega factory, is also set to become the biggest IKEA store in the world. 

IKEA Philippines is opening in 2020

Swedish-founded multinational furniture giant announced to the media on Tuesday, 20 November, that it will open its first IKEA Philippines store at the end of 2020.

The announcement was made on Tuesday 20 November, at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City. It will occupy 65,000 sq m of the Mall of Asia complex making them SM’s largest tenant to date.

IKEA Philippines, which is said to be almost double the size of a typical IKEA mega factory, is also set to become the biggest IKEA store in the world. 

According to IKEA, the store will carry thousands of IKEA products and will target more than 5 million households. The building will also house a call centre and a supersized warehouse to accommodate e-commerce operations for IKEA.ph which will deliver orders to residents in the Greater Manila area.

IKEA furniture, meatballs and more

IKEA Philippines will feature the same as the typical IKEA big blue-box, with more than 55-inspiration room settings and the brand’s well-loved products from candles and cookware to kitchen and sofas. It will also house the self-serve warehouse, a supervised playroom and a restaurant with meals for the whole family, including the famous IKEA Swedish meatballs.

A taste of IKEA

On Tuesday, the IKEA team gave a taste of IKEA—literally—to mall-goers at SM Mall of Asia and served Swedish meatballs. It also showcased an electric jeep painted in its signature blue and yellow.
